Samuel Gonin Death – On July 10, the body of Samuel Gonin, 43, a key suspect in the investigation into Lina’s abduction, was found at his home in Besançon (Doubs). Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. Gonin had a history of violent behavior in the years preceding Lina’s disappearance.

Incident Details
On August 25, 2023, just a month before Lina went missing, Gonin assaulted two women. His first victim, a 90-year-old woman, suffered numerous bruises and a fractured femur after Gonin violently snatched her bag and threw her to the ground. Later that same day, Gonin robbed a cashier at a Vival grocery store, threatening her with a knife before fleeing with the money.

Legal Proceedings
Gonin was identified and apprehended by police after surveillance footage was released in June 2024. He was scheduled to appear before the Besançon Correctional Court on July 22. Gonin had a history of psychiatric issues, including previous suicide attempts and multiple psychiatric facility admissions. Despite his criminal past, he had completed all his prison sentences.

Ongoing Investigation
