Anthony Hodge Obituary, Victim in fatal I-65 crash identified

A pedestrian killed in a semi-truck crash on I-65 has been identified.

At approximately 9 p.m. Tuesday night, Kentucky State Police Post 3 responded to an accident on Interstate 65 near the 38-mile marker in Smiths Grove, according to a news release form KSP.

A preliminary investigation found that that a red Kia Forte operated by Anthony Hodge, 36, of Bowling Green was traveling northbound on Interstate 65 when it began to hydroplane due to rainy conditions, causing the vehicle to exit the roadway left and collide with the median wall.

Hodge exited the vehicle in the center lane, where his vehicle came to a stop. Hodge was struck by a red 2025 Freightliner operated by Alexander Kipnis, 64, of Techumseh, Oklahoma, who was traveling north.

Hodge was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Warren County Coroner’s Office.

The roadway was shut down for a couple of hours, KSP said.

The investigation is ongoing.
