Who is Gary Abraham? Aiken Teen Arrested, Charged With Murder in Connection with Jakolbi Taylor Shooting

An 18-year-old Aiken resident named Gary Abraham has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Jakolbi Taylor.

In addition to the murder charge, Abraham is also facing three counts of attempted murder and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.

Jakolbi Taylor was fatally shot on July 20th while he was in Myrtle Beach with an AAU basketball team. The shooting took place at the beach access on 16th Avenue North. Myrtle Beach police responded to the incident around 1:15 a.m. and found multiple individuals fleeing the scene.

After a thorough investigation, Abraham was identified as the suspect and was apprehended on Saturday, July 27th. He is scheduled to appear before a judge on Sunday.

Several law enforcement agencies, including the Aiken Department of Public Safety, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, Horry County Sheriff’s Office, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, assisted in the investigation.

Upon Abraham’s arrest, Jakolbi Taylor’s family issued a statement expressing some relief but stressing the importance of holding the perpetrator fully accountable and seeking justice for their son.
